The Card View widget shows a table's records as cards on a dashboard. Each card carries the fields you choose, grouped and sorted as you set it. It is the Card view, placed on a dashboard.
Here is the test: do viewers recognize these records by a few lines of detail at a glance? If yes, add a Card View widget. If they move work between stages, use the Kanban View widget. If they scan many fields at once, use the Grid View widget.
Example: the Vendor risk overview dashboard in a Vendor Management solution. The Security lead adds a Card View widget titled Tier 1 vendors on the Vendors table. Its View Configuration shows Vendor Tier, Control Owner and SOC 2 Report On File on each card. That is the Vendor cards view's setup. A Static preset filter named Tier 1 narrows the cards. Drag and drop is off, so the review board stays put.

Adding a Card View widget
Open the dashboard and set the View | Edit switch in the upper right to Edit.
Select + Add Widget in the toolbar. The Add New Widget sidebar opens on the right, with a Search Widget box and the widget categories.
Expand Views and select the Card View card. Its info icon reads "Presents records as visual cards." The widget modal opens, titled Card View.
The modal shows a live preview of the cards on the left and the settings sidebar on the right. Set the source and the defaults as described below.
Select Add Widget at the foot of the modal. Cancel discards the widget.
The widget lands at the top left of the dashboard at half the row's width; the next widget lands beside it. There is no Save button on a dashboard: Add Widget is the commit. Drag the handle on its right or bottom edge to resize it; see Managing Widgets.

The widget settings
The settings sidebar is the one every view-based widget shares. It has three tabs: General, Toolbar and Actions. Each tab is a set of sections you can expand and collapse. Every row is described in View-Based Widget Settings. This section covers what the Card View widget does with them.
General
Heading. Title is a text box, prefilled with "Card View"; type the widget's name, Tier 1 vendors here. Description is a switch, off to start. Turn it on and a rich-text box appears with two position tabs, As A Tooltip and Below The Title. Below The Title is selected to start.
Source. A button that shows the table's name with the line "Solution: <solution name>". It opens a two-level picker: the current solution's tables, and a back chevron to every solution you can see, with a search box. Pick the solution, then the table. For Tier 1 vendors the table is Vendors.
Note: A widget's source is a table, not a saved view. The cards' fields, sort, filter and group are set in View Configuration, so a change to a Card view in the table does not change the widget.
View Configuration. One row per toolbar control, each with its current value as a badge: Fields to display, Sort, Filter, Group, Spotlight and Card Size. Select a row and the control's usual popup opens inside the modal; the preview updates at once. The section's helper reads "Set the default state of each toolbar control for this view." Two rows matter most here.
Fields to display
The popup has two columns. Available Fields lists the table's fields with a Search box, the primary field marked "Primary Field", and Select All. Selected Fields shows the chosen fields with their count and Clear All. Done closes it. A new widget shows the primary field only, so the badge reads 1. Drag a selected field to set its order on the card.
Card Size
A slider with three stops, S, M and L, with a minus and a plus button at its ends. S is selected to start. Tier 1 vendors uses M, so the three lines read at half width.
The Card View widget has no Display Options section, so there is no record limit on it.
Fields to display open from View Configuration, with Available Fields on the left and three Selected Fields on the right.
Toolbar
Preset Filters offers three cards, None, Dynamic and Static; None is selected to start. The Tier 1 filter is a Static filter here: Vendor Tier is Tier 1. The steps are in Filters in View-Based Widgets.
Toolbar Elements is one switch per control, all on to start: Fields to Display, Sort, Filter, Group, Spotlight, Card Size and Search. Show all and Hide all change every switch at once.
Actions
User Actions carries two switches on the Card View widget, both on to start.
Open Record Details lets a viewer open a record from a card.
Allow Drag and Drop Records lets a viewer drag a card within a group or to another group.
Buttons holds + Add Button, which opens the Button Settings popover; see View-Based Widget Buttons.

Permissions
Solution Managers and members with Full Access add a Card View widget to a public dashboard and change its settings. The owner does the same on a private dashboard. Every member who can open the dashboard sees the widget; see Dashboard Settings. What a viewer can do inside it is the smaller of two things: the switches on the Actions tab, and their own permissions in the table. A member who cannot edit Vendors cannot move a card or change a record, whatever the switch says. On a shared dashboard the cards show to anyone with the link; see Public Dashboard Sharing.
Using the widget
In View mode the widget shows the cards with the toolbar you left on. At half width the cards sit in a single column and the toolbar folds into a Configure View dropdown; at full width the toolbar shows inline. Select a card to open the record when Open Record Details is on. With grouping set, the cards sit under group headings, and a viewer drags a card between groups when Allow Drag and Drop Records is on.
Hover over the widget and two icons appear at its top right: Full Screen, and a three-dot menu with Minimize and Export. Full screen opens the cards in a modal titled with the widget's name, with the full toolbar.
A Filter widget on the same table narrows the cards when the two are connected; the Card View widget is offered in its connection list. See Filter widget.
Tip: M cards with three lines read well at half width. L cards need the full row; put them on their own tab or above the charts.
A viewer's sort, filter or group in the widget lasts until the dashboard reloads; the defaults in View Configuration come back.

Editing a Card View widget
In Edit mode, hover over the widget. A strip appears with a drag handle (Drag Widget), Move Up, Move Down, Edit (its tooltip reads Edit Widget) and a three-dot More Options menu. Edit reopens the modal; change what you need and select the button at its foot. Closing the modal with its X after a change asks "Are you sure you want to exit without saving the changes you made?", with Exit Without Saving and Save Changes.
The More Options menu holds Minimize, Highlight Color, Duplicate Widget, Delete Widget and a Collapsed by Default checkbox. Delete Widget asks "Are you sure you want to delete the <name> widget?" with No, cancel and Yes, delete widget. The full set is in Managing Widgets.
