The settings sidebar for view-based widgets (Grid, Card, Kanban, Timeline, Calendar, and Gantt) is organized into three tabs: General, Toolbar, and Actions. Use it to set the state a widget opens in for everyone, and to decide which toolbar controls and actions viewers get.

Overview
The settings sidebar separates two things:
The widget's defaults: how the view looks every time the widget loads, such as its sort, filters, grouping, and fields.
What viewers can see and do: which toolbar controls appear for viewers and which actions they're allowed to take.
The Chart Widget does not use this sidebar.
Opening Widget Settings
On your dashboard, hover over a view-based widget and select Edit widget.

General Tab
Heading and Source work as before.
View Configuration is where you set the default state of each toolbar control in the view. This includes Fields to Display, Sort, Filter, Group By, Spotlight, Search, and row or card size. It also includes the control specific to the view type:
Stack By for Kanban
Timeline By for Timeline
Calendar By for Calendar
the Gantt settings for Gantt
Each row shows the control and its current default. Click a row to open that control's usual popup. Whatever you set here is what viewers see every time the widget loads. The section and the widget preview stay in sync, so a change in one appears in the other.
Display Options contains Display report toolbar options to members and, where available, the limit on the number of records displayed.
Note: The inline editing / drag-and-drop checkbox and Allow users to open record details are no longer in Display Options. They are now in User Actions on the Actions tab.
Toolbar Tab
Preset Filters is where you configure the widget's own Dynamic and Static filters. This section previously had its own tab. See Filters in View-Based Widgets for details.
Toolbar Elements has one toggle for each toolbar control, and it controls what viewers see in the widget's toolbar on the dashboard. Turn a control off to remove it from the toolbar. Use Show all or Hide all to change every control at once. These shortcuts only affect the widget you're editing.
Note: Display report toolbar options to members (General tab › Display Options) still hides the entire toolbar, regardless of your Toolbar Elements settings.
Actions Tab
User Actions is a set of toggles that control what viewers can do in the widget:

Note: Currently only the Grid View widget has export and print controls.
Turning off Allow Exporting removes the export menu from the widget header, the export buttons in full-screen view, and Export from both the record context menu and the bulk actions panel.
Turning off Allow Printing removes Print record and Print selected records from those same two menus.
Buttons holds the widget's action buttons. They have moved here from the General tab and work the same way. See View-Based Widget Buttons.
How Defaults and Viewer Changes Work
Viewer changes aren't saved. When a viewer re-sorts, re-filters, or hides a field in the widget's toolbar, the widget's saved configuration doesn't change. The next time the dashboard opens, the widget shows what you configured.
Existing widgets keep their settings. A widget created before this change shows its current settings in View Configuration. Every toolbar element starts visible and every action starts allowed until you change them.
Tip: If a viewer reports that a widget "reset," that's expected. The widget always reloads to the defaults set in View Configuration.
Practical Scenarios and Use Cases
1. A Consistent Starting Point
Scenario: Everyone who opens the dashboard should see tasks grouped the same way, no matter what the last person did. Solution: Set Sort and Group By in View Configuration. Viewers can still re-sort for themselves, but the widget always reloads to your defaults.
2. A Read-Only Reporting Grid
Scenario: A Grid widget is for review only, and data shouldn't be edited or exported from it. Solution: Turn off Edit Records Inline and Allow Exporting in User Actions.
3. A Simplified Toolbar
Scenario: Viewers only need to search, and the full toolbar is clutter. Solution: In Toolbar Elements, click Hide all, then turn Search back on.
