View-Based Widget Buttons

Learn how to add and manage action buttons on view-based dashboard widgets. You control which buttons appear, what they do, and how they’re displayed.

Where this is available

This feature works on these view-based widgets:

  • Grid View

  • Gantt View

  • Card View

  • Timeline View

  • Calendar View

Not supported on: Chart Widget


What this feature does

  • Add up to 10 buttons per widget

  • Use the same setup as the Button Row Widget

  • Choose any supported button action

  • Remove all buttons if not needed


Button Capabilities

Buttons support the same actions as the Button Row Widget. Common actions include:

  • Link To External URL

  • Run a Script

  • Create a Record

  • Open a Form

Note: Available actions may vary slightly depending on your plan and configuration.


How buttons display

  • First 2 buttons → shown as Icon + Label

  • Remaining buttons → grouped under … (overflow menu)

  • No buttons configured → nothing is shown


How to add buttons

  1. Open your dashboard

  2. Select a widget

  3. Open settings

  4. Go to Buttons

  5. Click Add Button (up to 10)

  6. Configure:

    • Label

    • Icon

    • Color

    • Action

    • (Optional) Default values

  7. Order buttons (top 2 are visible)

  8. Save

  • Widget: A dashboard component that shows data or actions

  • View-based widget: A widget connected to a table view (Grid, Gantt, etc.)

  • Button action: What happens when a button is clicked

  • Overflow menu: The menu for extra buttons
