A Simple Banner widget is a strip of formatted text across a dashboard, with a background and buttons. Think of the notice at the top of a page that says what the page is for and where to go next. The product's card and modal call it Simple Banner.
Here is the test: does the page need a message on a colored strip, with a button and no picture beside the text? If yes, add a Simple Banner. For an image on one side and text on the other, use a Hero widget. For a plain title, use a Heading widget.
Example: during the audit the Vendor risk overview carries a Simple Banner that reads Audit window opens 1 Nov. "Security" sits above it in the CAPTION style, and the auditor's scope under it in Small Text. Its background is a solid color at full width. Two buttons sit under the text: Open evidence folder opens a URL in a new tab, and Log a finding opens the intake form.
The Audit window opens 1 Nov banner across the top of the Vendor risk overview, with its caption, subtitle and two buttons.

Select + Add Widget in the toolbar. The Add New Widget sidebar opens on the right with a Search Widget box and thirteen collapsible categories. Page Display is open to start.
Open Page Display and select the Simple Banner card. Its info icon reads "Displays a block of formatted text with background and action buttons".
The Simple Banner modal opens with a preview on the left and the settings on the right. The settings sit on three tabs: General, Style and Action Buttons. Cancel and Add Widget sit at the foot. Write the content, then select Add Widget.
The widget lands on the dashboard. Drag it by its handle to move it.
The General tab
The General tab holds two sections: Heading and Content.
Heading
Title is the widget's own name, prefilled with "Simple Banner". Description is a switch, off to start; on, it adds a text box and the choice As A Tooltip or Below The Title.
Content
The banner text, in one rich-text editor. Its toolbar is the Heading widget's. Text Style, Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough come first. Then Text Align, Text Color, Highlight Color and Code. Then Add Link, Quote, Bulleted List, Numbered List and Insert Checklist. Add dynamic text sits at the end. Text Style runs from Heading 1 to CAPTION, nine styles in all.
A caption, a title and a subtitle are three lines in three styles in this one editor. The overview's banner uses CAPTION, Heading 2 and Small Text.
Dynamic text is a placeholder the dashboard replaces with a live value for each viewer. Select Add dynamic text and pick one of the ten values listed in Dashboard Widget: Heading.

The Style tab
The Style tab holds three settings: Background, Spacing and Width.
Background
Three options: Background Color, Upload Image or External Image Link. Background Color is chosen to start, with a blue swatch and a color picker.
Spacing
The space between the text and the banner's edge: S, M, L or XL.
Width
Fixed keeps the banner inside the widget's own width. Full Width stretches it across the whole dashboard.
Tip: Full Width with spacing M suits a banner at the top of the page. Fixed suits a banner between two groups of widgets.

The Action Buttons tab
The Action Buttons tab holds two sections: Appearance and Buttons.
Appearance
Alignment is three icon buttons: left, center and right. Size is S, M or L.
Buttons
Select Add Button. The Button Settings popover opens. Its rows are Label (placeholder "Enter label"), Icon (No Icon to start, with a searchable icon library) and the color rows. Then Action and the rows for the chosen action. Then Show Tooltip (No | Yes, No to start), Ask for Confirmation (No | Yes, No to start) and Done.
Action lists four: Link to external URL (the default), Run a Script, Create a Record and Open a Form. A URL button adds URL and Open in (New Tab to start; Same Tab or New Tab). A form button adds Table, Form and Open in (Slider to start; Popup, Slider, Full Screen or New Tab). Show Tooltip set to Yes adds a small rich-text box, up to 200 characters. Ask for Confirmation set to Yes adds a Title, a Message and a Button Label with defaults. The full dialog, action by action, is in Button Row Widget.
Note: The four actions are the same on every button a dashboard offers: Simple Banner, Hero, Button Row and the Buttons section of a view widget. The live article's "Trigger a Workflow" is not in the list.
The Action Buttons tab with the Button Settings popover open on Open evidence folder, Action set to Link to external URL.

Using the widget
In View mode the banner is text on its background with the buttons under it. A button opens its URL or its form, creates a record or runs a script when selected. Hover over a button and its tooltip shows in a dark bubble; with confirmation on, a dialog with Cancel and your button label opens first. A viewer who cannot do what the button does. At Fixed width the banner sits inside the grid of widgets; at Full Width it runs edge to edge.
A Filter widget and a Record Selector do not change a Simple Banner. It holds no records.
