The Spacing Widget offers a simple way to control the layout of your dashboard by adding extra space between widgets only when additional spacing is desired. It helps to create a cleaner, more organized visual presentation, allowing you to guide users’ focus effectively across different sections.

This widget is optional and is not needed between all widgets. Instead, use it strategically to focus on key areas, improve readability, and maintain a professional, user-friendly appearance throughout your dashboard.

Adding Widgets

Widgets are the building blocks of your dashboard, each offering a different way to display data, metrics, and content. To add widgets:

  1. Click "Add Widget"
In the upper-right corner of your dashboard, select the Add Widget button.

  2. Choose Your Widget
A popup will display SmartSuite's library of widgets, including text, charts, banners, and interactive widgets. Use the search bar or scroll through the categories to find and select the right widget for your dashboard.

  3. Customize Your Widget
After selecting a widget, you can configure its settings (e.g., text, images, data sources, and layout) to match your specific needs.

The Spacing Widget offers the following customization options:

  • Height: The widget has a default height of 16px, which can be adjusted using a dropdown menu. Predefined height values range from 16px to 208px, allowing for flexible spacing adjustments.

  • Background: By default, the widget has a transparent background. Users can change the background color using the color picker, selecting from predefined colors or entering a custom HEX code.

Spacing Widget Use Cases

  1. Project Dashboard: Insert Spacing Widgets between sections like "Open Tasks" and "Upcoming Milestones" to create breathing room and make the dashboard easier to scan.

  2. Customer Onboarding Dashboard: Use Spacing Widgets to create a clear gap between widgets that display customer information and those showing onboarding tasks, enhancing visual separation.

  3. Company Intranet Dashboard: Add Spacing Widgets around announcements and updates to give each section prominence and avoid a cluttered appearance.
