The Heading Widget is a versatile tool designed to enhance your dashboard by displaying a block of formatted text prominently. This widget is particularly useful for adding titles, descriptions, or any important information that you want to stand out on your dashboard.

Configuring the Heading Widget

Navigate to your dashboard. For help on creating a dashboard view, see this article.
Toggle the View / Edit Dashboard Modal and click on "Add Widget button."

Locate and select "Heading" from the widget options:

Configure Settings

In the Content window, you can enter the formatted text you want to display in the widget. You have a variety of formatting and customization options within this window such as creating headings, adjusting colors, and hyperlinking.

Once you are finished customizing, click "Add Widget" to add the widget to your dashboard.


Positioning the Widget

You can move widget to the desired location by hovering over the left dot menu and dragging from the corner.


Editing an Existing Heading Widget

Click on the edit button when you hover the widget. Make sure your dashboard is in Edit mode.

The settings panel will expand, displaying the widget's current configuration. Click into the content box to modify the text content in the provided field. Clicking "Save" will apply the changes.


Use Cases for the Heading Widget

  1. Use the Heading Widget to clearly define different sections of your dashboard. This helps users quickly identify and navigate to the information they need.

  2. Highlight critical updates or announcements at the top of your dashboard. This ensures that all users are immediately aware of any important changes or news.

  3. Provide step-by-step instructions or guidelines for using the dashboard or specific widgets. This can be particularly useful for new users or for complex dashboards.

  4. Display key project milestones or deadlines prominently. This keeps everyone on the same page and helps track progress effectively.

  5. Summarize key data points or metrics at the top of the dashboard. This provides users with a quick overview of the most important information.

These use cases demonstrate the versatility of the Heading Widget in enhancing the organization, communication, and overall effectiveness of your SmartSuite dashboards.
