The toolbar on a view can be hidden from the three-dot menu next to the New button, with the Display Toolbar Row checkbox. The records then fill the space, and the same checkbox brings the toolbar back.
Here is the test: do you want more room for records on one screen? Hide the toolbar. To stop members changing the view, lock it instead; see Locked Views.
Example: a Vendor Management solution with a Vendors table. The Security lead duplicates the Vendor risk register as Register (wall screen), hides its toolbar and shows it on the team's wall display. The original register keeps its toolbar for daily work.
The three-dot menu open next to New Vendor, with Display Toolbar Row checked.

Opening the three-dot menu
The three-dot button sits at the right of the view header, next to the New button. The New button carries the table's singular record name, so it reads New Vendor on the Vendors table. The menu lists, in order: Full Screen, Display Toolbar Row, Disable Inline Edit, Print, Export, Import Data, Copy Link and Recycle Bin. Display Toolbar Row and Disable Inline Edit are checkboxes; Display Toolbar Row is checked to start.
Hiding the toolbar
Select the three-dot button.
Clear Display Toolbar Row.
The toolbar row disappears at once and the grid header moves up under the view header. The menu stays open with the box now empty. The view header keeps the view name, the view menu chevron, the star, the New button and the three-dot button, so records can still be added.
Tip: For a wall display, pair it with Full Screen from the same menu, so the workspace frame goes too.
The register with the toolbar hidden: the view header directly above the column headers, and the grid filling the space.
Showing it again
Select the three-dot button and check Display Toolbar Row. The toolbar returns at once. The checkbox hides the row of buttons; the view's saved settings are a separate thing, kept with the view.
Permissions
In the product read, the hidden state survived a page reload. The setting is therefore kept with the view, not for the session only. The view's row in the View Panel shows no indicator either way.
Note: Hiding the toolbar does not stop anyone changing the view. A member can show the toolbar again from the same menu. To fix a view's settings, lock it.
Using it in each view type
The item was read on a Grid view.
