How do I use the SmartSuite Community?

Where to ask, which space fits your question, the guidelines, and how to write a first question that gets an answer.

Written by Emma Montgomery

The SmartSuite Community at community.smartsuite.com is where customers ask each other how to build on the platform and show what they have built. Post a question in General Questions or Developer Forum and a member or a SmartSuite team member replies, usually within one business day.

All plan types

Permissions

None required. The community uses its own sign-in (Apple, Google, email and password, or a corporate ID), separate from your SmartSuite account.

What is the community for?

The community is for questions about building on the platform, for sharing solutions, automations and dashboards, and for discussing each release. SmartSuite team members take part and post the Product Updates, but the community is not the support desk. Anything that needs your workspace, your plan or your data goes to support through the message icon in the product.

Which space do I post in?

Sign in first; the space list is empty for visitors who are not signed in. Then choose the space that fits the post.

Space

Post here when

General Questions

You want to know how to do something, why something happens, or which field, view or automation fits a job.

Developer Forum

The question is about the REST API, webhooks, scripts, Zapier or Make.

Show and Tell

You built something worth showing: say what it does, which fields and views it uses, and add one screenshot with sample data.

Introduce Yourself

You are new: who you are, what you run on the platform and what you want to learn.

Product Updates and General Announcements

The SmartSuite team posts releases, webinars and training here. Reply under a release post with questions about that release.

Events

Webinar and office-hours announcements from the team. Office hours run every weekday at 9:00 am PT.

How do I ask a question that gets answered?

  1. In the space, select New post, then Question.

  2. In the title, write the question the way you would type it into search, for example "How do I copy a field to another table?". A title that states the question is found by the next person with the same problem.

  3. In the body, say what you want to happen, what you tried and what happened instead. Name the field type, the view or the automation action exactly as the product shows it.

  4. Optional: add one screenshot of the setup. Use sample data; a screenshot that shows customer records is removed.

  5. Add one product-area tag, then select Post. The post appears in the space and in the feed.

  6. When a reply solves it, mark it as the best reply from the reply's menu. The thread then shows as answered.

Note: One question per post. A second question is a second post, so each thread stays answerable and searchable.

A first-question template

Copy this into a new post and fill the brackets.

Title: How do I [what you want to do] in [Grid View, an automation, a form]?

What I want: [One sentence on the outcome].

What I have: [The table and the fields involved, with their field types].

What I tried: [The steps you took and what happened].

Plan and platform: [Your plan name, and web or mobile].

What are the community guidelines?

The full guidelines are pinned at the top of General Questions. The rules that matter most:

  • Be useful and specific: say what you tried, and mark the best reply.

  • No promotion of any product, service, store or job, in a post or in a profile bio. Accounts that exist to carry a link are removed.

  • No customer or personal data: no names, email addresses, records or screenshots that show someone else's information.

  • Account, billing and data problems go to support, and feature requests go to the product roadmap.

  • Respect: no insults, no harassment, no impersonation of SmartSuite staff. Staff accounts carry an Admin or Moderator label.

Important: Spam is removed within 4 business hours of a report. Posts that break the guidelines are removed and the member is told why.

What happens to a question about my account?

A question that needs your workspace, your plan or your data cannot be answered in a public thread. A moderator replies with the route and leaves the thread open for the outcome. To contact support, open the message icon in the lower-right corner of any SmartSuite page and select Send us a message; link the community thread in your first message so the two stay connected.

How do I request a feature?

Feature requests live on the product roadmap, not in a community space. Open the message icon in the product and select View/Request New Feature to search existing requests, vote and add your own. A discussion about a request is welcome in General Questions; link the roadmap item in the post.

FAQ

Do I sign in with my SmartSuite account? No. The community has its own sign-in with Apple, Google, an email address and password, or a corporate ID. Your display name is what other members see, so set it to your name.

How long until someone replies? A member or a SmartSuite team member replies to every question. If no member has replied within one business day, a team member does.

Can I post a link to my company's site? No. Links to products, services, stores or job offers are removed, in posts and in profile bios. The one exception is Show and Tell, where a partner may show a build on the platform and say who they are.

Where do I report a bug? Through support from the message icon in the product, so the team has your account details. The community thread can carry the outcome once support has replied.

Where do I find past webinars and training? In the General Announcements and Events spaces, and on the SmartSuite YouTube channel linked from SmartSuite Support Resources.

Last verified 21 Oct 2026 against the community spaces read through the public API, community guidelines v2 and help articles 9006198, 4758293 and 6555114.
