What Is the Data Schema Widget?
The Data Schema widget draws a diagram of a Solution’s tables, with lines showing how they’re connected. Now supported on mobile, it helps you:
Review how a Solution is structured while you’re away from your desk
See which tables link to each other, including links from other Solutions
Zoom in on the diagram or open it full screen for a closer look
Key Benefits
Same Diagram as the Web: The widget shows the same tables and connections as the web app for the same configuration.
Settings Carry Over: The field display and cross-Solution settings chosen on the web apply on mobile automatically.
Zoom When You Need It: Unlock the widget to pan and pinch inside the card, or open it full screen.
No Setup Required: Works automatically on existing dashboards that include a Data Schema widget.
How to Use the Data Schema Widget on Mobile
Set up the widget on the web. Data Schema widgets are configured in the web app, and the mobile app displays them. To add or edit one, see Dashboards: Data Schema Widget.
Open a dashboard. Navigate to any dashboard that includes a Data Schema widget. The widget appears in place, with its name and description. If the name is hidden, only the description shows.
Read the diagram. The whole diagram is scaled to fit the card when the dashboard opens, and you can scroll past it normally.
Zoom inside the card. Tap the padlock in the card to turn on panning and pinch-to-zoom. While it’s on, the dashboard stops scrolling so your gestures move the diagram. Tap the padlock again to return to the fitted view and resume scrolling.
View it full screen. Tap the expand icon to the right of the widget name. The diagram opens on its own screen, titled with the widget name. There you can:
Pan freely and pinch to zoom
Use the zoom in, zoom out, and fit to screen controls
Double-tap to reset to the full diagram
Go back to return to the dashboard
What the Diagram Shows
Table cards: Each table in the selected Solution appears as a card in that Solution’s color. The card shows the table name and its fields, sorted alphabetically. Tables without fields aren’t shown.
Relationship lines: Linked Record, Count, Rollup, and Lookup fields create lines between tables. Each line starts and ends at the field that created it.
Self-links and two-way links: A table that links to itself shows a loop. Two tables linked in both directions show a single line.
Member and team fields: Fields that refer to members or teams don’t create lines.
Layout: Connected tables are arranged left to right automatically, starting from the most connected table. Tables with no connections are placed after them.
Long names: Long table or field names are shortened to fit inside the card.
Note: The diagram only includes tables you have access to. Tables you can’t access, and the lines that would lead to them, are left out.
How Web Settings Affect the Mobile Diagram
Fields shown on each card: If the widget is set to show only fields with relationships, each card lists only those fields. If it’s set to show all fields, every field is listed, and lines connect only to the relationship fields. A card with nothing to show displays No visible fields.
Links to other Solutions: If links to other Solutions are turned on, tables from other Solutions that link into the selected Solution also appear, along with their connections. If it’s off, only the selected Solution’s tables appear.
Changes made on the web show up the next time the dashboard loads on mobile.
What You May See
Loading indicator: Shown briefly while the workspace’s tables load.
Invalid widget message: The widget has no Solution selected, or its Solution was deleted. Ask a Solution Creator or Workspace Admin to update the widget in the web app.
Placeholder message: The Solution exists, but none of its tables can be drawn.
The widget name and description stay visible in each of these states. The expand icon only appears when a diagram is drawn.
Practical Scenarios and Use Cases
Solution Review on the Go
Scenario: A Solution Creator wants to check how a new Solution's tables connect before a design review.
Solution: They open the dashboard on their phone, tap the expand icon, and zoom in to follow each relationship line.
Onboarding a New Team Member
Scenario: A new team member needs to understand how the team's Project and Task tables relate.
Solution: They open a dashboard with a Data Schema widget on their tablet and unlock the card to pan around the diagram.
Summary
With Data Schema widgets now supported on mobile, your Solution’s structure goes wherever you do, with no extra setup.
