Mobile Dashboards: Chart View Widget

Mobile Dashboards: Chart View Widget

Written by Sravya Challagundla

SmartSuite now brings the full Chart View widget experience to your mobile dashboards. Whether you're on iOS or Android, you can view, filter, and explore grouped, sorted, and benchmarked chart data — right from your phone or tablet.

Plan Availability

TO CONFIRM — a "Limited by Plan Type" value is set on the record but couldn't be decoded to a plan name. Sibling mobile widget articles say "All plan types" — verify before publishing.

Permissions

General Access to view/interact; chart configuration (creating charts, benchmark lines) happens in the web app. TO CONFIRM this matches the actual mobile permission model.

Note: SmartSuite already supports basic chart viewing on mobile (see SmartSuite Mobile: Chart Widget Display). This article covers the expanded experience — grouping, sorting, filters, benchmark lines, and chart totals — available starting in mobile app version 3.12 (MOB 166).

Overview

The Chart View widget visualizes your SmartSuite data using bar, column, line, area, pie, donut, scatter, bubble, and heatmap charts, with the same grouping, sorting, filtering, benchmark lines, and totals available on desktop — now rendered natively on mobile.

How to Set It Up

  1. Update to mobile app version 3.12 (MOB 166) or later.

  2. Open a Dashboard containing a Chart View widget.

  3. The chart loads automatically, reflecting the grouping, sorting, filters, benchmark lines, and totals already configured on desktop.

  4. Interact: tap data points/bars for values, use attached filters to narrow the view, swipe between widgets.

TO CONFIRM: whether tapping a chart series opens an editable record list on mobile the way it does on desktop — not specified in the source record. Verify with engineering/QA and add a screenshot before publishing.

What's Included

  • Grouping and Sorting — matches the underlying Saved View configuration.

  • Filters — honored on mobile as configured.

  • Benchmark Lines — configured target lines display on the chart.

  • Chart Totals — up to three configured totals, consistent with desktop.

  • Chart Types Supported — Bar, Column, Line, Area (incl. Stacked/100% Stacked), Pie, Donut, Bubble, Scatter, Heatmap.

Practical Scenarios and Use Cases

1. Sales Performance ReviewScenario: a regional manager wants to compare team performance against quarterly benchmarks while traveling. Solution: open the sales dashboard on mobile to view a grouped bar chart with benchmark lines.

2. Executive KPI Check-InScenario: a CEO needs a quick metrics read before a meeting. Solution: check a sorted, totaled chart view directly from mobile.

3. Field Operations MonitoringScenario: a field supervisor wants to review grouped inspection data from a job site. Solution: open a filtered Chart View widget with grouping and totals, no laptop required.

Summary

Chart View widget support on mobile brings SmartSuite's full charting toolkit — grouping, sorting, filters, benchmark lines, totals — wherever you are.
