What Is the Pivot Table Widget?

The Pivot Table widget summarizes your records by cross-tabulating one field against another, using counts, sums, averages, minimums, or maximums. Now supported on mobile, this feature helps you:

  • Check summarized data away from your desk

  • Tap through to the records behind any number

  • Open the table full screen for a closer look

Key Benefits

  • Same Numbers as the Web: Rows, columns, cell values, row and column totals, and the grand total all match the web app

  • Pinned Headers: The header row and first column stay in place while the rest of the table scrolls in both directions

  • Formatting That Follows the Field: Currency, percent, precision, separators, and prefixes or suffixes display the way the summarized field is configured

  • Tap Through to Records: Tap a cell, a total, or the grand total to open the records behind it

  • Full Screen Tables: Open the pivot on its own screen, sized to your device

  • No Setup Required: Works automatically on existing dashboards with Pivot Table widgets, and column widths set on the web carry over

How to Use Pivot Table Widgets on Mobile

Follow these steps to start using Pivot Table widgets on your mobile device:

  1. Set Up the Widget on the Web

  2. Open a Dashboard

    • Navigate to any dashboard that includes a Pivot Table widget

    • The widget appears in place, with its title and description

  3. Read the Table

    • Swipe horizontally to scroll through columns

    • Swipe vertically to scroll through rows

    • The totals heading matches the summary type: Total, Sum, Max, Min, or Average

    • A dash (-) means no records match that row and column combination

    • Records with an empty value in the row or column field are grouped under a blank title, with their own totals

  4. Tap Through to Records

    • Tap a cell to open exactly the records counted in that cell

    • Tap a row or column total to open the records for that row or column

    • Tap the grand total to open every record behind the widget

    • Go back to return to the dashboard

  5. View the Table Full Screen

    • Tap the expand icon to the right of the widget title

    • The table opens on its own screen, titled with the widget name

    • Tapping cells and totals works the same way in full screen

Messages You May See

  • No records to be displayed: The widget's filter doesn't match any records

  • Number of rows or columns limit exceeded: The widget's configuration can't be displayed, for example because it exceeds the 1,000-row or 1,000-column maximum. Edit the widget in the web app.

  • If the widget's row or column field has been deleted, or you don't have access to its source table, the widget shows a message instead of an empty space. Ask a Solution Creator or Workspace Admin to update the widget in the web app.

Practical Scenarios and Use Cases
