Embed Grid Views directly on dashboards! The Grid View Widget provides a visual way to display your SmartSuite data in a read-only or editable grid right within your dashboards.

Overview

The Grid View Widget is an option to select from the Dashboard view Gallery. This widget allows you to display SmartSuite data in a configurable grid format. Whether read-only or editable, it’s ideal for presenting data directly in your dashboard. Learn more about how to create a Dashboard View here.


Configuring a Grid View Widget

Follow these steps to configure the Grid View Widget:

  1. Select the Grid View Widget from the Dashboard view Gallery.

  2. After selecting the widget, a settings module will appear where you can:

    • Indicate the Solution the Grid View will come from.

    • Select the Table within the Solution.


  3. Customize the display options:

    • Toggle the ability to inline edit directly from the Grid View Widget.

    • Optionally display the report toolbar (to Group, Sort, Filter, Spotlight, or Find data).

    • Enable users to open records and view all details.

    • Set a limit on the number of records displayed in the widget.

  4. Add the widget to your dashboard by clicking the “Add Widget” button.

  5. Drag the widget window to adjust its size. You can also minimize the widget or view it in full-screen mode.


Customization Options

The Grid View Widget offers additional customization features:

  • Set a highlight color. Adjusts the color of the widget’s border.

  • Duplicate Widget. Makes a copy of the widget, which you can then customize.

  • Export. Export the grid view’s data to Excel, Google Sheets or CSV format.

  • Collapse the widget by default. Causes the widget to display in collapsed mode when first viewed.



Practical Use Cases and Scenarios

1. Team Collaboration

Scenario: A project team needs quick access to live task updates.

Solution: Add a Grid View Widget displaying the task list, allowing inline edits for immediate updates.

2. Data Review

Scenario: The finance team wants to monitor expense records from a specific solution.

Solution: Configure the widget to show relevant data with filters applied for easy review.

3. Dashboard Optimization

Scenario: A dashboard has multiple widgets, and space is limited.

Solution: Collapse the Grid View Widget by default and expand it when needed to keep the dashboard organized.
