Connect two tables by adding a Linked Record field to one of them and choosing the other in Select Linked Table. SmartSuite creates the matching field in the second table, so the link works both ways, within one solution or across solutions in the same workspace.

What does linking tables mean?
Linking tables creates relationships between individual records. For example:
With a Projects table and a Tasks table, link each task to its project through a Linked Record field.
The project then shows its tasks, so you open one record and see everything that belongs to it.
People often call this "linking tables"; in SmartSuite the field that does it is the Linked Record field.
Why does the link appear in both tables?
When you add a Linked Record field to a table and connect it to another table, SmartSuite automatically creates a mirrored Linked Record field in the second table. This means:
Linking Tasks to Projects creates a matching field in Projects that lists the linked tasks.
A link added or removed on one side changes on the other side at the same time.
You can open and manage the linked records from either table.
The mirror removes double entry: you record a relationship once and both tables show it.
How do I link two tables in the same solution?
Open the table where you want the relationship and add a new field.
Select Linked Record as the field type.
In the field settings dialog, choose the table to link in the Select Linked Table dropdown.
Save. The mirrored field appears in the linked table.
How do I link tables in different solutions?
A Linked Record field can point to a table in any solution in your workspace, which removes duplicate data between solutions. Members only see linked content they have access to.
Add a Linked Record field to your table.
Open the field settings dialog.
In the Select Linked Table dropdown, choose a table from another solution.
Benefits: no copies of the same data in two solutions, and consistent relationships across the workspace.
Example: your Sales CRM solution holds a Contacts table and your Project Management solution tracks projects. Link Contacts to Projects, and contact details open straight from a project record.
What are common ways to connect workflows?
1. Projects and tasks
Scenario: a team wants every task visible from its project. Setup: link the Tasks table to the Projects table; the project view lists its tasks.
2. Marketing and sales
Scenario: marketing tracks campaigns in one solution and sales tracks leads in another. Setup: link the Campaigns table to the Leads table so each lead shows the campaign it came from.
3. Clients and projects
Scenario: client data lives in a CRM solution and projects elsewhere. Setup: link the Clients table to the Projects table and open client details from any project record.
Frequently asked questions
How do I link tables?
Add a Linked Record field to one table and pick the other table in Select Linked Table. Steps are in the sections above; the Linked Record field article lists every setting.
How do I sync a table into another solution?
You do not copy it. Link to it: add a Linked Record field that points at the table in the other solution, then add Lookup fields for the values you want to see. The data stays in one place and updates everywhere it is linked.
How do I count the records linked in a field?
Add a Count field and point it at the Linked Record field. It shows the number of linked records and updates as links change.
How can I see which table a Linked Record field points to?
Open the field settings. The Select Linked Table value shows the target table and its solution.
Can an automation fill in a Linked Record field?
Yes. The Update Record action can set a Linked Record field, or append to it, from a static value or a value mapped from the trigger record. See SmartSuite Automation Actions.
How many Linked Record fields can a table have?
30 on Team, 50 on Professional and 100 on Enterprise and Signature. Lookup fields have the same limits, and Count, Rollup and Formula fields share a combined limit of 30, 50 and 100.
