What Is Shared Card View?

The Shared Card View feature lets you generate a unique URL to share your SmartSuite data as a read-only web page. The shared view adapts to various devices, including mobile, tablet, and desktop, making it accessible to anyone, regardless of whether they are a workspace Member.

Benefits and Use Cases

Shared Card Views are perfect for:

  • Sharing customer feedback and comments.

  • Providing project status updates to clients.

  • Allowing digital marketing agencies to share drafts with customers.

  • Sharing anonymous feedback with employees.

  • Delivering assessment or audit data to third parties.

  • Summarizing reports for senior management.

Shared Cards are presented as web pages that display consistently across devices. You can also embed Shared Card Views into a SmartSuite dashboard using a Custom HTML Widget.

How to Configure Shared Card View

Follow these steps to set up and share a Card View:

  1. Navigate to the desired Card View.

  2. Adjust filters and selected fields to display the content you want to share.

  3. Click Share View from the Saved View toolbar.

  4. Click the toggle button to enable sharing.

  5. Copy the generated URL and share it via email, instant message, or other communication methods.

Tip: Only fields displayed in the Card View are included in the shared display, allowing you to tailor content for your audience.

Managing Shared Card Links

Regenerating Links

To deactivate an old link and create a new one:

  • Click the Regenerate icon in the Share View dialog.

  • The old link is immediately deactivated and replaced by a new one.

Disabling Shared Card View

To stop sharing a Card View:

  • Disable the Share View toggle button in the top right corner of the dialog

  • This will deactivate the current shared link.

Note: Re-enabling sharing will not generate a new URL unless you select for it to be regenerated.

Advanced Display Controls

Solution Managers can enhance and control Shared Card View functionality:

  • Share all fields: Limit viewers to the fields displayed in the view.

  • Allow data export: Enable viewers to download shared content as a file.

  • Open records: Allow viewers to open individual records in the shared view.

  • Display toolbar: Show or hide the toolbar with view controls.

  • Restrict access with a passcode: Require a password for access to the shared view.

Hiding the Header

For embedded views, use the header=false parameter in the URL to remove the header and padding. This ensures seamless embedding into other sites or applications.

Example:

Note: Older URLs can be updated manually by appending ?header=false to the embed Widget URL.
