The Rating field allows members to rate records for ranking and many other use cases.

Adding a Rating field

From Grid View

Click the + menu icon after the last column header or open the Column Menu by clicking on a column header's dropdown icon and then select "Add Field to the Right."

Select "Rating," and a window will open to configure the field. You can search the name for a quick find.

From Record View

The fastest way to add a field from an open Record View to is simply click the + sign next to a current field to add a new field below.

See a Rating field being added in Edit Record View below:

From the field customization settings, you can adjust the display format of the rating symbol and color (included in all SmartSuite plan types).

You can set the maximum rating using the Scale dropdown (options from 1 to 10). Next, you can customize the color and including rating labels to be displayed for the bottom and top range as needed.

The maximum number to rate will always display in grey and the color selected in the settings will be applied to the selected ratings. To adjust the rating value simply click on the appropriate number of rating symbols or type the corresponding number on your keyboard.

To clear the cell, click on the symbol of the current rating value, hit delete on your keyboard, or type 0.

Examples of Use

Assess Job Candidates in Hiring

The Hiring solution available in the SmartSuite Solution Library includes three Rating fields by default within the Interview table:

  • Position Fit

  • Cultural Fit

  • Recommendation Strength

(See Gif above)

Rate New Feature Requests

Capture user ratings for new product feature requests.

Use Rating Values in Formula Fields

Rating field values can be used in calculations within the Formula fields.

Continuing from the above Hiring example, you can create an interview score that adds the value from the Position Fit and Cultural Fit, then multiply by the Recommendation Strength to generate a numeric Interview Score in a Formula Field that ranges from 0 to 100 according to the calculation:
