What to do in week two

After your first week: Academy Essentials, the community, office hours, your first automation and the plan limits to know.

Written by Peter Novosel

You have finished the first-week path: a solution with your data, linked tables, a view, a dashboard and your team in it. Week two is about building the habit: a course, a question in the community, a live session, your first automation and the limits to know.

What should I do in week two?

  1. Take the Essentials track in the Academy. SmartSuite Academy is free and self-paced: a written overview, a video and knowledge checks per course, and a Certified Pro certification at the end of the track.

  2. Ask one question in the community. The SmartSuite Community is where customers show what they built and answer each other; General Questions is the space for a how-do-I question.

  3. Join office hours once. Live office hours run every weekday with a Product Specialist; bring the solution you built.

  4. Build your first automation. An automation pairs a trigger with up to 10 actions, for example notify the assignee when a Status changes. Start with the Automations Introduction, then Creating an Automation.

  5. Read the limits once. SmartSuite Limits lists records per solution, file storage, automation runs, API calls and Recycle Bin retention per plan, so nobody is surprised later.

Where do I go when I am stuck?

  • Search the help center first: every article opens with the answer.

  • Ask in the product: the message icon in the lower-right corner of any SmartSuite page reaches support.

  • See every live session and resource on Learning SmartSuite.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Academy free?

Yes. Every course is free and self-paced, and the three certifications were free as this article was written; create an Academy account to track your progress.

Do I need a separate account for the community?

Yes. The community uses its own sign-in (Apple, Google, email and password, or a corporate ID), separate from your SmartSuite account.

What is the one automation most teams build first?

A notification when a record changes status or is assigned: a Record is Updated trigger with a Send an Email action. The Automations Introduction lists every trigger and action.

You have reached the end of the first-week path. The next place to look is the collection for what you are building: Build, Automate and integrate, Collaborate or Administer.
