Any AI tool that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in can connect to SmartSuite using the hosted SmartSuite MCP Server. There's nothing to install or host, and no API keys to manage.
Plan Availability | All Customers |
Permissions | Any Member can connect. What the tool can do is limited by that Member's own Permissions and by the Workspace's MCP Access setting. |

The Server URL
Wherever a tool asks for an MCP server URL, use:
https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp
The first time the tool connects, a browser window opens so you can sign in to SmartSuite and choose which Workspaces the connection covers and whether it may write or read only. Read only is selected by default.
Claude Code
Run:
claude mcp add --transport http smartsuite https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp
Then, inside Claude Code, run /mcp, select smartsuite and choose to authenticate.
Cursor
Open Cursor Settings → MCP and add a new server, or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{ "mcpServers": { "smartsuite": { "url": "https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp" } } }Cursor prompts you to sign in the first time SmartSuite is used.
VS Code (GitHub Copilot)
Run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP, and paste the server URL. Or add this to .vscode/mcp.json:
{ "servers": { "smartsuite": { "type": "http", "url": "https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp" } } }
Windsurf
Add this to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json:
{ "mcpServers": { "smartsuite": { "serverUrl": "https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp" } } }Gemini CLI
Add this to ~/.gemini/settings.json:
{ "mcpServers": { "smartsuite": { "httpUrl": "https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp" } } }Then run /mcp auth smartsuite to sign in.
Amazon Quick
In Amazon Quick, open Connectors and choose Create for your team.
Select Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Enter a name, set the MCP server endpoint to the server URL above, and choose Public network.
Choose User authentication (OAuth), then Create and continue. Each user signs in to SmartSuite the first time they use it.
Other Tools
Look for an option to add a remote, HTTP or custom MCP server or connector, paste the server URL, and sign in when prompted.
If a tool only supports local servers, you can bridge to SmartSuite with the open-source mcp-remote package (requires Node.js):
{ "mcpServers": { "smartsuite": { "command": "npx", "args": ["mcp-remote", "https://app.smartsuite.com/v1/mcp"] } } }
Test the Connection
Ask: "List the Solutions in my SmartSuite Workspace."
Troubleshooting
Problem | What to do |
No browser window opens to sign in | Look for an authenticate or sign-in option in the tool's MCP settings. If the tool doesn't support OAuth for remote servers, use the mcp-remote bridge above. |
Sign-in keeps failing with the mcp-remote bridge | Clear its saved credentials by deleting the ~/.mcp-auth folder, then restart the tool. |
A Workspace is missing from the list | Its MCP Access is set to Disabled. Ask a Workspace Administrator. |
The tool can read but changes are refused | Your connection is read only, or the Workspace's MCP Access is Read-Only. The stricter setting wins. |
Prefer to Self-Host?
SmartSuite also publishes an open-source MCP Server you can run on your own infrastructure. Most teams don't need it; the hosted server above works with every MCP-compatible tool. Github: SmartSuite MCP Server
