Overview

In SmartSuite, Forms are a powerful tool for gathering data directly into your solutions. However, access to create and manage Forms is restricted to ensure data integrity and control. This article clarifies the permissions needed for users to create Forms.

Permissions Required for Form Creation

Currently, only users with the Solution Manager role can create or manage Forms. Although users with Full Access can generally interact with most elements of a solution, they cannot create or manage Forms without being assigned the Solution Manager role.

Assigning Solution Manager Permissions

Open Solution Permissions and look to the bottom of the window. Click the plus (+) button to add a Solution Manager. Note that users who are made Solution Managers have admin-like permissions within the Solution, and can modify its structure, settings and data.

Why Is This Restriction in Place?

This limitation is intended to maintain data security and control, especially in environments where multiple users have editing rights within a solution. Forms often collect sensitive or critical information, so restricting creation to Solution Managers provides an additional layer of protection.

What If You Need a User to Create Forms Without Making Them a Solution Manager?

As of now, Solution Managers have exclusive access to Form creation. Consider temporarily granting the Solution Manager role to the user to enable them to create necessary Forms, or assigning a Solution Manager to assist with the form setup.
