Easily create a new solution by duplicating an existing one. This feature saves time by reusing existing structures, ensuring you can quickly adapt workflows for new teams or processes.

Why Duplicate a Solution?

Duplicating a solution can be useful for several reasons:

  • New Teams or Processes: Start with a proven structure and make minor adjustments to fit a new use case.

  • Experimentation: Test new features or workflows without impacting the original solution.

  • Backup Before Major Changes: Safeguard your data and structure by creating a duplicate before importing data or making structural modifications.

What is Included in a Duplicate?

A duplicated solution contains:

  • Tables, Fields, and Settings: Replicates the structure of the original solution.

  • Optional Records: Copy all records from the original solution.

  • Optional Comments: Include all associated comments from the original.

Content Not Duplicated

Some items are not included in the duplicate:

  • Automations

  • Tasks

  • Starred Items / Favorites

  • Personal Saved Views

  • Notifications

  • Activity History

  • Contents of the Recycle Bin


How to Duplicate a Solution

Option 1: From the Home Page

  1. Log in as an Administrator or Solution Manager with Solution Owner access.

  2. Locate the solution you want to duplicate.

  3. Click the 3-dot menu (...) next to the solution name and select Duplicate Solution.

  4. The Duplicate Solution dialog will open.


Option 2: From Inside the Solution

  1. Log in as an Administrator or Solution Manager with Solution Owner access.

  2. Open the solution you want to duplicate.

  3. From the solution's dropdown menu, select Duplicate Solution.

  4. The Duplicate Solution dialog will open.


Configuring the Duplicate Solution

In the Duplicate Solution dialog, you can configure these options:

Option

Description

Name

Specify a new, unique name for the solution.

Duplicate in Workspace

Specify the SmartSuite Workspace where the solution should be duplicated.

This dropdown list will show the Workspaces in which you have the Solution Creator or Administrator role, which is required to create the duplicated solution.

Include Records

Check to copy all records from the original solution.

Include Comments

Check to copy all comments from the original solution.

Once configured, click Duplicate Solution to create an exact copy of the original solution. You will be redirected to the newly duplicated solution.
