A template from the Solution Library comes with demo records. When your own records are in, you remove the demo records in one step from the solution menu, and your own data stays.
Here is the test: are the sample records getting in the way of your team's work? Delete them. If people are still learning the solution, keep them a while.
Example: a risk team installs the Enterprise Risk Management template. For two weeks the demo risks show new risk owners how to fill in a record. Once the team's own 60 risks are in, a Solution Manager deletes the demo data.

When should I delete the demo data?
Once you have explored the template, changed it to fit, and added your own records. Until then the demo records show how the fields and views are meant to be used.
How do I delete the demo data?
Open the solution that holds the demo data.
Select the arrow next to the solution's name. The solution menu opens.
At the bottom of the menu, the Delete Template Demo Data box reads "This solution contains demo data". Select Delete it.

Every demo record is removed. The records you added stay, and the box leaves the solution menu. Your fields, views and other changes are not touched.
Note: Only the demo records are deleted. Records your team added are kept, even in the same tables.
