Locked Views is a feature available on the Professional and Enterprise plans that allows View Creators, Solution Managers, and Workspace Admins to restrict changes to a view's configuration and custom elements. This ensures that Saved Views remain static and purposeful, minimizing disruptions to workflows.

Why Use Locked Views?

Locking a view prevents members from unintentionally altering or misconfiguring key Saved Views. Here are common use cases:

  • Secure Shared Links: Lock views containing sensitive or confidential information shared frequently.

  • Static Team Views: Ensure team members access the view in a consistent configuration critical to workflows.

What Locking a View Does

When a view is locked:

  • Members cannot:

    • Rename the view or its description.

    • Change its type to Private.

    • Delete the view.

  • Members can:

    • View or edit record content within the view.

    • Add new records (if they have record-level permissions).

Icon Indication:

Locked views are marked with a red lock icon, making it easy to identify them.

How to Lock a View

  1. Open the Navigation Sidebar:

    • Navigate to the view you wish to lock.

  2. Access the 3-Dot Menu:

    • Hover over the Saved View name and click the 3-dot menu.

  3. Enable the Lock:

    • Hover over the Public View option and toggle the lock setting in the displayed window.

  4. Save Changes:

    • The red lock icon will appear next to the Public View tab, indicating the locked status.

Note: Changes are saved immediately, even if autosave is disabled.

Unlocking a View

To restore editing permissions for the view:

  1. Follow the same steps as locking the view.

  2. Disable the Lock Toggle:

    • The red lock icon will disappear, indicating the view is unlocked.

Note: Only the Solution Manager can unlock a view.

Tips for Using Locked Views

  • Collaborative Workflows: Lock views used by multiple team members to ensure consistency.

  • Prevent Mistakes: Use locked views to avoid accidental changes to critical configurations.

  • Manage Permissions: Combine locked views with member permissions for added security.
