These settings establish the default language, time zone, and locale for your SmartSuite workspace. These settings will be applied to every new Member profile created - those individuals can then customize any of these settings in their own personal profile.

What do Workspace Preferences settings control?

These settings control the language and formatting of SmartSuite content, including system text, numbers, dates, and time information.

  • Language. SmartSuite is available in 15 languages - all SmartSuite interfaces, help text, and related content will update to your selected language (NOTEπŸ“ : Changing this setting does not update or translate any of your data)

  • Time Zone. All dates are stored by SmartSuite in GMT - this setting selects the time zone date information is displayed to you in

  • Locale. Your locale specifies how dates, numbers, and currencies are formatted

These settings are discussed in more detail in our article about Supported Languages, which also explains time zone and locale settings.

Setting Workspace Preferences

It's easy to set your workspace preferences, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Log in as a Member (with the Administrator role).

  2. Click on your user profile icon in the upper-right hand corner of the SmartSuite interface to open your user profile options.

  3. Click Workspace Administration in the menu.

  4. Select the Workspace Settings tab.

  5. In the Workspace Preferences section click Edit.

  6. Select the default settings you prefer.

  7. Click Update Workspace Profile to save your settings.

The Manage Workspace Preferences dialog lets you pick your configuration for the following settings:

  • Language. This sets the default language that will be displayed to new users of the SmartSuite workspace. It is important to know that SmartSuite does NOT translate user-supplied labels (field names, report titles, etc.) or any record content automatically - they remain in the original input language no matter what the Language preference is set to.

  • Time Zone. Sets the default time zone for display of date and time information. SmartSuite saves all date/time information in Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) but displays those values to users based on time zone setting.

  • Locale. This setting controls the default display format for dates, times and numbers.

Click Update Workspace Profile to save. Clicking Cancel will discard any changes.

Note that individual users can override these default settings for their own profiles in their user preferences. For more information see this article that details managing user workspace preferences.
