Overview

Workspace Branding lets you personalize your SmartSuite workspace to reflect your company’s style and identity. With branding, you can control colors, upload a logo and favicon, customize banners, and preview changes in real time. A well-branded workspace helps your team feel at home and makes your workspace look more professional for internal teams or external clients.

What You Can Customize

  • Workspace Colors: Pick primary and accent colors for your workspace. New color palettes provide more modern, muted tones.

  • Logo & Favicon: Upload a company logo and a favicon (the small icon in the browser tab).

  • Workspace Name: Admins can rename the workspace directly from the branding area.

  • Banners: Choose from default or custom banners. Add images, messages, and dynamic fields like user names.

  • Live Preview: See changes immediately as you adjust colors and banners.

How to Access Branding Settings

  1. Click the Workspace Menu in the top corner of the page.

  2. Select Branding from the menu.

  3. The branding panel opens where you can make changes and preview them live.

Customize Workspace Colors

  • Use the color selector to pick your workspace’s main color.

  • When you change the color, the preview updates instantly so you can see how it looks.

  • The new set of colors includes softer, modern shades designed to feel polished and professional.

  • Changing the primary color updates the theme across all solution templates in your workspace.

Upload a Logo and Favicon

  • In the branding panel, hover over the logo area to upload your company’s logo.

  • You can also upload a favicon — the small icon shown in your browser tab.

  • There’s a quick toggle to display or hide the logo in the workspace banner.

  • A small bug with logo uploads has been fixed to ensure smooth loading.

Rename Your Workspace

  • Admins can click directly on the workspace name to edit it.

  • This is restricted to admin users to prevent accidental changes.

Add and Customize Banners

SmartSuite now supports two banner types:

Default Banner

  • Uses your selected workspace color automatically.

  • Displays a simple, clean background with no extra setup.

  • You can choose to show or hide your logo in the banner area.

Custom Banner

  • Upload a custom image for a more branded look.

  • Add a personalized welcome message that can pull dynamic fields, like the user’s first name or the workspace name.

  • Example: “Welcome John to Acme Projects!”

  • Add an optional description below the message for extra context or instructions.

  • Adjust the banner’s height and positioning for the best appearance on desktops and dashboards.

  • New positioning controls are being added for full control on dashboards.

How Banners Work

  • When a new banner is applied, changes are shown instantly.

  • Banners are visible on the homepage and will soon integrate with dashboards too.

  • You can toggle elements like the user avatar or logo display directly in the banner settings.

Best Practices for Banners

  • Use the default banner for a clean look with minimal setup.

  • Switch to a custom banner when you want to showcase seasonal campaigns, company events, or client-specific branding.

  • Keep welcome messages clear and concise. Dynamic fields help personalize greetings automatically.

Who Can Manage Workspace Branding

Only Workspace Administrators can:

  • Change workspace colors

  • Upload logos and favicons

  • Rename the workspace

  • Add or update banners

Important Notes

  • All changes apply workspace-wide and take effect immediately.

  • An audit log feature is being developed to track who makes branding changes for better administrative oversight.

  • When the homepage update is deployed, all existing workspaces keep their current colors and banners by default. You can update them anytime using branding settings.

Practical Scenarios and Use Cases

Company Rebranding

Scenario: A company updates its visual identity with a new logo and color palette.
Solution: Admins update the workspace color, upload the new logo and favicon, and adjust the banner to match the new brand style.

Client-Specific Workspaces

Scenario: A consulting agency creates separate workspaces for different clients.
Solution: Use custom banners and logos for each client workspace to deliver a personalized experience that strengthens client trust.

Tip for Admins

  • For a seamless experience, plan your branding updates outside peak work hours to minimize confusion as colors or banners change in real time.

  • Use the live preview to check how updates will look for all users before saving.
